Launch of the 2024 Francophonie Festival in Saudi Arabia

The French Embassy, in partnership with around ten French-speaking embassies, unveils the program of the Festival de Francophonie. Like every year in March, countries around the world celebrate La Francophonie by organizing cultural events highlighting the French language – and Saudi Arabia is no exception.

During the 32nd edition of the Festival de la Francophonie, the richness and diversity of the French language and culture around the world will be celebrated in various cities across the Kingdom. A press conference, organized by His Excellency, Ambassador Ludovic Pouille at the French Residence in Riyadh revealed a program with numerous events that will take place in Jeddah, Al Khobar, Riyadh and AlUla during the months of February, March and April.

The event promotes French-speaking values and cultures and is the result of a partnership between the International Organization of Francophonie, international embassies and diplomatic representations. This year, several foreign embassies and consulates, including Belgium, Cameroon, Canada, Ivory Coast, Djibouti, France, Guinea-Bissau, Lebanon, Morocco, Senegal, Switzerland and Tunisia will participate in the Saudi festival.

What can one discover at the Festival de la Francophonie ?

Francophones and Francophiles will be able to enjoy workshops, conferences, shows, films, exhibitions and dictations for all ages.

The festival also offers events on culture, art, sport and gastronomy, according to the Francophonie organizing committee.

Adults and children will be able to enjoy a golf competition and the gastronomy festival on the weekend of March 1-2. The food festival will take place at the Lebanese Embassy and is well known to all food lovers in Riyadh.

French, Swiss, Canadian, Moroccan, Saudi and French-speaking Belgian films will also be screened.

On March 5, at the Embassy of Djibouti in Riyadh and in the Alliance Française centers of Khobar, Jeddah and Al Ula, a dictation will put the best spellers in competition in a friendly atmosphere.

Sports fans will take part in a walking race on March 9 in Khobar.

For International Women’s Rights Day, March 8, a round table will be organized on the quality of life of women in Saudi Arabia at L’Art Pur Gallery in Riyadh.

Another event is planned in AlUla on the same day.
